When I made my planning for 2021 last year, I set my sights on a photo trip to the Département de l'Aude in France in mid-May. Not knowing what the Covid-19 epidemic would bring us. However, I had already arranged a B&B and determined the locations. Until the last moment we doubted whether it was possible to go. And finally we decided to go. Armed with a negative PCR test and a first vaccination, it should be possible. After all, I was not going to be among people, but to walk around in nature!
In Granes, I met a friendly Belgian who lives there, knows the locations and manages the Affûts.
And how I enjoyed it! Nature is really beautiful there. Lots of flowers in the fields and butterflies and other insects. Nice temperature of generally 20-25 degrees Celsius. And an enormous wealth of birds and other animals.
Some climbing and clambering here and there is of course part of it and makes the adventure even better. Of course, I was lucky that the weather was better there than in NL. And that there was enough in front of the lens (after all, it is nature). Thanks to these lucky factors and the surroundings, this trip became an unforgettable experience.
An additional advantage: by exchanging experiences with a few very friendly nature photographers who were active there at the same time, I gained a lot of knowledge again.
